About Us

Dan Brown founded Asheville Technology Services in September of 2010 with the principle that along with experience and knowledge, every business deserves quality computer systems and technology support, with a friendly face, positive attitude, and a reliable and professional manner.

An Asheville native, (seventh generation) Born at Mission Hospital in 1976, Dan grew up in Fairview, NC, moved to Montreat, NC in the seventh grade and graduated from Charles D. Owen High School in Black Mountain, NC where he proudly was awarded senior superlative of "Most Dependable" male senior and Civitan's Citizen of the Year. After high school, Dan attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC where he was an active member in the student body as an elected Student Government representative, Student Volunteer Services leader, and computer lab worker. Dan graduated from PC in May of '99 with a BA in Religion (and was only one credit short of having a minor in Physical Education).

Dan has a natural knack for and appreciation of computers and technology. From his first Apple IIe computer at age 10, computer camp at Oglethorpe University in eighth grade, to a lifetime of being his friends' and family's computer guru. While in college Dan studied computer science and worked in the computer lab. After college, Dan worked as a youth director for a Presbyterian church in Columbia, SC. From May of 2003 through August of 2010, Dan worked as a systems administrator for an Asheville computer support services company. During that time, he worked with over 30 different small businesses and non-profit organizations administering servers, networks, cell phones and mobile devices, computers and software; including installations, training, repair and consultation. Dan and his beautiful wife Emily were married August 14, 2010 and just had a beautiful baby girl in May! Dan enjoys playing tennis and the occasional hike or camping trip... as long as he is caught up on the latest technology news updates. Dan is most often described as energetic, enthusiastic, friendly, honest and reliable. Dan is always listening, ready to help fix and teach, learning more every day.
